“The Windy City”, as it is often called, has great appeal and attracts visitors by the thousands each year. With over 2.5 million people calling this area home, it is easy to see why it is the third most populated city in the United States. A great deal of travelers, come by way of the O'Hare International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world. What is it about Chicago that draws so many people each year and leaves them wanting more? Perhaps it is the charm and culture that surrounds this thriving metropolis, or the vast amount of activities it provides.

There are many things that will take a travelers eye in Chicago, one of which is the Wills Tower. From the time of its inception until 2009, the tower was called the Sears Tower. With over a million visitors each year, it is by far one of the most popular attractions. Tourists can’t wait to jump inside the elevator that whisks them from the ground level to the top in less than 60 seconds. The observation deck allows them to feel the wind sway the building and it is clear to see why it is called “The Windy City.” This massive tower is the largest of all skyscrapers in the United States and seventh largest of all buildings in the world. 108 floors of offices and leave this one of the must see places in Chicago. The views from this location are spectacular, allowing a person to see the state of Indiana, Michigan and sometimes when it is really clear, Wisconsin.

Chicago is known for its theater district and the spectacular performances. Second to Broadway, Chicago hosts many famous productions and actors. With over sixteen major theaters, it is easy to catch a production any day of the week. For those that prefer the Symphony, there are plenty of classical music venues to enjoy. This diverse, multi-cultural area allows people to experience Opera, Theater and the Symphony Orchestra all in one place.

Navigating around Chicago may be a tedious task at first. The city is divided into four major areas, or suburbs. The suburbs are, North, South West and Downtown areas. However, once a person learns what each area has to offer, they will have a hard time being able to fit it all into one trip. While out an about in Chicago, one will certainly get hungry and the ample selections of food service establishments is sure to please. Chicago is world famous for their deep dish pizza and the hot dogs. It is often said that a person has never tasted pizza until they have had a deep dish slice of heaven, Chicago style. The hog dogs are plumb and the buns enormous and the toppings, they include every condiment possible. Travelers will not have a problem finding something to eat in this fascinating city, but they will have a hard time being able to sample all the cuisines the city has to offer.

Shopping is another favorite pastime in Chicago. As one of the fashion industry hubs in the world, those who want to see famous designer styles must visit Oak Street. This street is lined with all the top clothing designer’s shops from France to Italy. The Magnificent Mile is another shopping area that is loaded with quaint shops and major shopping chains, which is sure to have something for every style and budget. Chic ago is said to have 250 of their own professional, world renowned designers stationed right within the city, finding the perfect outfit should not be a problem here.

Chicago has so much to offer that it would take months to see and do everything. However, with a little planning, it is easy to see all the important things and to experience some great decadent cuisines in between sites.
